Halle aux blés, Paris, France
Copper engraving from 1849. The Halle aux blés (Wheat or Grain Exchange) was a circular building in the center of Paris. It was built in 1763-67 and had an open-air courtyard with a wooden dome in 1783 and an iron dome in 1811. A major rebuild in 1888-89 replaced much of the structure. The building influenced the design of public buildings in Britain and the United States.
